Do Games Enhance Intelligence?
Games are an excellent tool for children to learn through their own experiences about concepts we cannot directly teach them. During play, children express their emotions and thoughts, solve problems through trial and error, and gain experience in taking calculated risks.

Contrary to common belief, our brain, which governs what we think, feel, and how we act, is always active. To ensure this activity progresses positively, engaging in stimulating activities is essential. Among these, intelligence games stand out as both enjoyable and effective. One of the most impactful types of these games is designed to enhance visual memory, a function of the brain’s right hemisphere that simplifies our lives and sets us apart from others.

Photographic Memory Game: RENKKAT

RENKKAT is a visual memory game aimed at improving attention, reasoning, and especially visual memory. The game consists of 110 tasks that increase in difficulty. Using the transparent pieces with different visual shapes provided in the box, players must stack them on the platform to recreate the required pattern.

Suitable for all ages starting from four, this intelligence game also contributes significantly to developing three-dimensional perception. Using 18 unique pieces, players work through assigned tasks. Key points to note during gameplay include focusing first on the shapes, then the colors, and finally assembling the main object.

Visual Attention Game: BAY BAK

Another game that sharpens visual memory is BAY BAK. In addition to enhancing visual memory, this game also boosts attention and concentration skills. To play, randomly place the game cards within octagonal frames around the BAY BAK card. Shuffle the smaller game cards and place them face down on the BAY BAK card, flipping over the top card. Players must identify the visual on the flipped card before their opponents and claim it as their own. At the end of the game, the player with the most cards wins.

Workshops on Intelligence and Mind Games

Since 2008, TÜZDER has been working to popularize intelligence games, which are widely used worldwide. One of its projects demonstrated that these games improve memory and cognitive abilities.

In collaboration with Istanbul Aydın University and the Istanbul Provincial Directorate of National Education, TÜZDER conducted a project in three public schools and one kindergarten. This initiative involved 80 students in kindergarten and first grade. Intelligence and Mind Games workshops were organized as part of this project, led by 30 university students who had completed training in Intelligence and Mind Games Instruction.

During the second semester of the 2012-2013 academic year, weekend workshops were conducted as a social project. Intelligence and aptitude tests were administered to students at the beginning and end of the program. Results showed that participating students made significant progress, with average increases of 6.8 in verbal skills, 7.5 in performance skills, and 8 in overall scores.
